Various methods are used for cleaning hydrocarbon (gas, diesel, motor oil, oil based hydraulic, transmission fluids) spills on boats. Some cleaners simply emulsify oils into micro droplets that can pollute if discharged.

Spill Genie® 3T Oily Bilge Cleaner is an innovative blend of environmentally friendly microbes that remain dormant until activated by the presence of hydrocarbons and begin to multiply and perform microbial digestion on the oil leaving mostly water and carbon dioxide at the end of the remediation process. The microbes then become dormant and assimilate into the environment as part of nature.
